Noritz Ez Classic Water Heater — Specs, Features & Reviews

The EZ series is the predecessor of the current EZTR line. Still sold for parts compatibility and fleet/commercial spec.

Updated May 2026 · Noritz Water Heaters

The EZ series (EZ98, EZ111) is Noritz's older Eztronic tankless line — predecessor of the current EZTR series. Still sold today, primarily for:

  • Installer parts compatibility (technicians who stock EZ parts and want to continue installing the same chassis)
  • Fleet/commercial spec where buyers standardize on the older Eztronic controller
  • Replacements where the original unit was an EZ and the installer prefers continuity

EZ lineup

  • EZ98 — 9.8 GPM condensing tankless
  • EZ111 — 11.1 GPM flagship

EZ vs EZTR — the key difference

The EZ classic does NOT include a built-in recirculation pump. For recirculation with an EZ unit, install an external Grundfos. The EZTR series adds the pump and is otherwise similar.

EZ vs NRC — when each is right

  • NRC — newer chassis, current controller, slightly better efficiency, newer parts
  • EZ — older chassis but still supported. Choose if you specifically want Eztronic controller compatibility or if your installer prefers it

For most new installs, NRC is the better residential choice. EZ is appropriate for installer-driven decisions or for replacing an existing EZ-series unit.

Warranty

12 years heat exchanger / 5 years parts / 1 year labor — same as NRC and EZTR.

Pricing

  • EZ98: $1,299-1,549
  • EZ111: $1,499-1,799

Bottom line

For a new install, choose NRC or EZTR. EZ classic is the right answer only if your installer prefers it or you're replacing an existing EZ unit.
