- Combustion air per code (50 cubic feet per 1,000 BTU/hr in confined spaces)

- Condensate drain: 1-2 gallons/day; trap + drain or condensate pump
- Water softener: required above 11 grains per gallon for warranty
- Outdoor variant: no venting required; freeze protection circuit requires 120V power

Bottom line
Standard Ruud installs are within range of competent plumbers. Hybrid Heat Pump requires verifying the 700+ cubic feet air space. Ultra Tankless requires ¾" gas line and proper PVC venting — common install failure mode is undersized gas line.
