The Professional Hybrid line is Ruud\'s heat pump electric water heater — same platform as Rheem ProTerra. Same 4.0+ UEF (best in residential), same 10-year warranty, same Energy Star, same federal IRA $2,000 tax credit eligibility.
Professional Hybrid lineup
How it works
Compressor and evaporator (like AC in reverse) extract heat from ambient air, pump into tank. Resistance backup elements when needed. 4.0+ UEF — three times more efficient than standard electric.
Modes
- Hybrid: heat pump primary, resistance backup. Default
- Heat Pump Only: max efficiency, slow recovery
- Electric Only: resistance only (cold ambient)
- Vacation: minimum heating
Install requirements
- 240V dedicated 30A circuit
- 700+ cubic feet unconditioned air space
- Ambient 40°F+ for heat pump mode
- Condensate drain (4-8 gallons/day)
- Clearances: 7" front, 4" sides, 7" top
Federal IRA tax credit
30% of project cost up to $2,000 per year. Stack with state/utility rebates — can net install under $1,000 in many markets.
Warranty
10 years tank / 10 years parts / 1 year labor. Matches Rheem ProTerra.
