Camco's mini-tank water heater offerings (the Olympian line) are small under-sink and supplementary residential electric tanks — 4-gallon and 6-gallon capacities designed for point-of-use installations where a full residential water heater is excessive.
Olympian model lineup
- Olympian 4-Gallon: 1500W 120V plug-in, suitable for kitchen prep sink, bar sink, or small bathroom vanity
- Olympian 6-Gallon: 1500W 120V or 4500W 240V variant, larger under-sink or small zone service
Where Camco mini-tanks fit
Camco's RV-aftermarket heritage means these mini-tanks are popular in:
- RV upgrades (replacing failed original units in galleys or small bathrooms)
- Boat galleys
- Garage workshops and outbuildings
- Detached studio apartments (ADUs) with single-fixture hot water needs
- Residential under-sink retrofits for distant fixtures
Installation considerations
Plug-in models work with standard 15A 120V outlets. Mount on wall bracket or shelf — the unit must be supported above floor level for proper drainage and service access. Cold water supply via 1/2" or 3/8" connection; hot outlet to the fixture(s). T&P relief valve is included; route discharge to a drain or pan.
Camco vs Bosch Tronic vs EcoSmart Eco Mini
The mini-tank market includes Bosch Tronic 3000T, Stiebel Eltron SHC, EcoSmart Eco Mini, and Camco Olympian. Comparison:
- Camco Olympian: RV-heritage build, competitive pricing, broad availability through RV retailers and Amazon
- Bosch Tronic: premium German engineering, longer lifespan, higher upfront cost
- Stiebel Eltron SHC: premium aesthetics for visible installs, German engineering
- EcoSmart Eco Mini: American brand, lifetime element warranty (limited)
For RV applications, Camco's parts network advantage matters. For residential under-sink, Bosch or Stiebel offer longer lifespans at higher initial cost.
Anode rod maintenance
Mini-tanks include a small anode rod for corrosion protection. The smaller tank surface area means the anode consumes faster than residential primaries — inspect at year 2–3 and replace when 75% consumed. Camco-specific replacement anodes are available, or universal 3/4" residential anodes shortened to fit.
Lifespan
Camco Olympian mini-tanks in typical service last 7–11 years. The element is the most common failure at year 4–6; element replacement is a $25 part and 30-minute DIY for someone comfortable with basic plumbing and electrical work.
Warranty
Camco Olympian carries a 6-year limited warranty on the tank and 1-year on the element. Warranty service through Camco direct or RV-parts retailers.
