Why TOTO repairs go smoothly (most of the time)
The Drake-series tank internals were designed in the late 1980s with US-standard fittings explicitly so US plumbers could service them with the same tools and aftermarket parts they used on Kohler and American Standard toilets. This intentional choice means a TOTO Drake II's flapper, fill valve, flush valve, and trip lever can all be sourced from a Home Depot parts aisle in 10 minutes. The exception is the Aquia IV's dual-flush mechanism and any Neorest tankless component — those require TOTO-direct sourcing.
The Neorest-specific service reality
If you own a TOTO Neorest 700H, 750H, or NX series, service is fundamentally different. There's no tank, no flapper, no fill valve.
