Jetted vs soaking -- the primary Empava decision
If you genuinely intend to use the jets, get the EMPV-59JT011. If you primarily want a deep soaking tub with freestanding aesthetics, get the EMPV-60FT001 at lower cost and zero jet maintenance. Many buyers purchase jetted tubs and use the jets rarely -- if that describes your bathing habits, the simpler soaking model is the better purchase.
Electrical planning for Empava jetted tubs
Empava jetted tubs require a dedicated 120V/20A GFCI circuit. This is a separate circuit from the standard bathroom circuit and must be planned during rough-in. The GFCI disconnect must be within sight of the tub (NEC Article 680) but at least 5 feet from the water edge. Budget $200-$500 for electrical rough-in depending on panel proximity and local labor rates.
Jet maintenance commitment
Empava water jets require monthly biofilm purging: fill tub above jets, add 1 oz dish soap or a dedicated jetted-tub cleaner, run jets for 15 minutes, drain, refill with clean water, run jets 5 minutes to rinse. Air jets require no purging. Missing monthly purging allows biofilm in the jet plumbing -- a health concern and the primary long-term maintenance failure in jetted tubs.
