Pentair IntelliPro VSF -- the energy standard
The Pentair IntelliPro VSF (011056 or 022056 depending on voltage) is a 3 HP variable speed and flow pool pump that adjusts motor speed from 600-3450 RPM to match the actual flow requirement at any given time. At low speed (for filtration), energy consumption is approximately 175-200 watts. At full speed (for vacuuming or water features), it reaches 2,500-2,800 watts. The average operating consumption for a residential pool is 300-600 watts versus 2,500-3,000 watts for a single-speed pump of equivalent size -- ENERGY STAR verification shows 65-90% energy savings depending on the previous single-speed pump replaced. WhisperFlo WFE-26 -- single speed baseline
The Pentair WhisperFlo WFE-26 is a 1.5 HP single-speed pool pump for pools in jurisdictions that still permit single-speed (currently most states outside California). At $300-$500, the WhisperFlo is the Pentair entry into pool circulation for smaller pools (under 15,000 gallons) where the IntelliPro's energy savings calculation does not reach payback within the pump's useful life. The WFE-26 uses Pentair's wet-end design with brass impeller and stainless steel shaft for durability in chlorinated water. Not ENERGY STAR eligible -- check state requirements before purchasing a single-speed pump for new pool construction.
Pentair booster pump -- Intelliflo Turbo
The Pentair Intelliflo Turbo Booster is a pool booster pump for pressure-side pool cleaners (Polaris 380, Letro Legend). A booster pump connects to the pool return line and provides elevated pressure specifically for the cleaner's operation -- the main circulation pump continues at normal speed. The booster pump requires a 240V dedicated circuit. For pools with a pressure-side cleaner, the booster pump is required -- suction-side cleaners (Kreepy Krauly) use the main pump suction and do not require a booster.
Residential water pressure booster
Pentair also produces residential pressure booster systems for homes with low municipal water supply pressure. The Pentair Hydromatik and Challenger series booster systems are specified by licensed plumbers for residential applications. These systems function identically to Rheem and other booster pump brands -- they increase supply line pressure at the point of entry to the home.
