First-Use Setup: Initial Sanitization
Before loading the first water bottle, run the Brio self-cleaning cycle on empty to sanitize the factory-clean internal circuit. Press and hold the CLEAN button for 3 seconds. The UV indicator will illuminate and the cycle will run for approximately 35 minutes. While waiting, inspect the bottle probe for any shipping foam or stickers that may block the inlet. After the clean cycle completes, insert the first jug and allow 15 minutes for the cold reservoir to fill and reach temperature before first use.
Loading the Water Jug
Open the lower door. Pull the probe tube up and out of the probe holder if your model has a swinging probe arm. Lay the 5-gallon jug horizontally on the floor beside the dispenser and slide it into the cabinet, neck first. Lower the probe into the jug cap opening until it locks. Close the cabinet door. The pump activates within 30 seconds and fills the cold reservoir over the next 5 to 10 minutes.
Delivery Pump Replacement Procedure
Unplug the dispenser. Remove the top panel (2 Phillips screws at the rear). Locate the pump -- on most Brio models it is a rectangular black unit mounted to the left interior wall. Photograph the tubing connections before disconnecting. Disconnect the two silicone tubes by pressing the collet release on the push-fit connectors and pulling the tube straight out. Unplug the 2-pin motor connector. Remove the 3 mounting screws and lift out the old pump. Install the new pump (inlet to probe line, outlet to reservoir line) and reconnect all connectors and tubing. Restore power, load a water bottle, and confirm the pump fills the reservoir within 60 seconds. Run the self-cleaning cycle once after pump replacement to sanitize the new pump internals.
UV Lamp Replacement
The UV lamp in Brio dispensers has a rated life of 8,000 hours -- approximately 3 to 4 years of daily auto-clean cycles. When the lamp life expires, the CLEAN indicator may flash an error pattern (consult your model-specific manual for the code). UV lamp replacement requires accessing the lamp tube in the cold reservoir compartment; the lamp twists out of its socket. Order the replacement lamp by Brio model number -- UV lamp wavelength (254 nm) and tube dimensions must match exactly for effective ozone generation.
