Service life is typically 5 to 8 years; failure before that usually results from mineral scale buildup on the probe strainer that overloads the motor. Brio sells model-matched pump kits through their customer service line and on their website. The kit includes the pump, mounting screws, and silicone tubing connections. UV Ozone Lamp
The UV lamp produces 254 nm ultraviolet light to generate ozone for the self-cleaning cycle. Lamps are model-specific in length and wattage (typically 4W to 8W). Replacement lamps for Brio CLBL series are available directly from Brio customer service. When replacing, handle the lamp only at the end caps -- skin oils on the quartz tube reduce UV output. Do not look directly at the lamp during operation; 254 nm UV is harmful to eyes and skin.
Bottle Probe Assembly
Probe assemblies consist of the rigid probe tube, the probe tip strainer screen, and the flexible connector to the pump intake silicone line. Probes are model-specific due to varying cabinet heights and probe arm designs. Replacement probes are available through Brio customer service. A probe developing a hairline crack allows air infiltration that causes the pump to lose prime -- audible as a gurgling or buzzing sound during fill cycles without water actually reaching the reservoir.
Float Sensor and Faucet Parts
The reservoir float sensor is a magnetic reed switch actuated by a foam float ball on a stainless steel arm. Reed switch failure results in the pump running continuously (switch stuck open) or never running (switch stuck closed). Replacement involves draining the cold reservoir and accessing the float arm through the top panel -- a 30-minute procedure. Faucet repair kits for Brio dispensers address the no-drip valve O-ring and valve stem, which wear after several years of daily use. Symptoms of faucet valve wear: slow dripping between uses, or a faucet that requires more force than normal to stop flow.
