Kinetico drinking water systems are installed by Kinetico authorized dealers. This guide explains what the installation involves, what to expect, and how to prepare the under-sink space.

Dealer installation process

Kinetico systems are sold and installed through a network of authorized dealers. Contact a local Kinetico dealer for a free in-home water test and system recommendation. The dealer will: (1) Test your source water for hardness, TDS, chlorine/chloramine, lead, and any locally relevant contaminants. (2) Recommend the appropriate Kinetico system and MACguard module combination. (3) Schedule installation, typically 2-4 hours for a K5 or AquaKinetic A200. (4) Install the system under the sink, connect to the cold water supply and drain line, and mount the dedicated faucet at the sink deck.

Under-sink space requirements

The Kinetico K5 system requires approximately 18 x 14 x 16 inches of under-sink space (width x depth x height). The storage tank (for AquaKinetic A200) requires additional space -- typically 10 x 10 x 18 inches. Clear the under-sink cabinet of cleaning supplies and other stored items before the installation appointment. If the under-sink space is smaller than the system footprint, the Kinetico dealer may recommend a compact configuration or alternate tank placement in an adjacent cabinet. The K5 tankless configuration eliminates the tank space requirement.

Dedicated faucet installation

A separate dedicated faucet for the Kinetico filtered water output mounts at the sink deck. Most kitchen sinks have a pre-punched 1-3/8-inch hole available for a soap dispenser or optional sprayer -- the Kinetico faucet mounts in this hole. If no pre-punched hole exists, the installer drills a new hole in the sink deck (stainless steel or composite sinks) or countertop (stone countertops require a core drill and stone drill bit -- confirm with the dealer before the appointment). Kinetico includes a faucet selection in several finishes (chrome, brushed nickel, oil-rubbed bronze) to coordinate with the existing kitchen hardware.
