Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station -- the flagship
The Kinetico K5 is the most certified under-sink drinking water system in the residential market: NSF 58 (RO performance), NSF 401 (pharmaceuticals, emerging contaminants), NSF P473 (PFOA and PFOS reduction to below EPA advisory levels), and NSF 401 for microplastics. This combination of certifications is held by no other residential RO system. The K5 uses Kinetico patented dual-membrane technology -- two RO membranes in parallel increase output and extend membrane life compared to single-membrane systems. Output: 24-40 gallons per day depending on supply pressure and temperature.
The K5 MACguard filter system uses a unique on-demand filter indication: each filter module has a built-in color indicator that changes from blue to white when the media is depleted. No timer, no electronic counter -- the indicator changes based on actual media depletion. Filter modules snap in and out of the K5 housing with a quarter-turn under the sink in under 30 seconds, no tools required. The filter lineup includes: Chloramine Module, Scale Guard Module, Arsenic Module, and Pathogen Reduction Module, allowing customization for specific source water conditions.
Kinetico AquaKinetic A200 -- the standard system
The AquaKinetic A200 is Kinetico entry-level under-sink RO system. It delivers filtered water through a dedicated dispense faucet at the sink deck. Three stages: sediment pre-filter, RO membrane, carbon post-filter. NSF 58 certified. Approximately 15-20 gallons per day output capacity with a pressurized storage tank. The A200 is appropriate for households without specific water quality concerns beyond standard chlorine, taste, and TDS reduction -- a more straightforward and less expensive system than the K5.
Kinetico MACguard faucet filters -- point-of-use entry
For households that do not want an under-sink RO installation, Kinetico MACguard faucet filters mount on the existing kitchen faucet aerator. The MACguard filter uses the same modular color-change media technology as the K5. For chlorine reduction only, the MACguard Chloramine filter is appropriate; for lead reduction, the MACguard Lead filter. Filter life varies by flow rate -- at 0.5 GPM typical faucet-mount flow, a single MACguard filter lasts approximately 500 gallons or 6 months.
