Top-load setup procedure
Remove the bottle cap and insert the bottle neck into the top opening of the cooler in one continuous motion -- hesitating midway allows water to spill. The cooler probe punctures the bottle neck seal as the bottle seats. Some models include a no-spill collar -- place the collar on the bottle neck before inverting to reduce spill risk. Allow 5 minutes for air bubbles to clear the water reservoir before dispensing. Plug in the unit and allow 2 hours for the compressor to chill the cold reservoir to operating temperature before drawing cold water. Draw and discard the first 16 oz from both hot and cold taps before drinking -- this flushes the internal tubing of any manufacturing residue.
Bottom-load setup procedure
Lay the 5-gallon bottle on its side inside the lower cabinet on the pull-out tray. Connect the probe (permanently attached to the cabinet by a hose) to the bottle cap -- the probe twists into the bottle cap connector. Close the cabinet door. Power on the unit. The pump draws water from the bottle upward to the internal reservoir -- allow 5-10 minutes for the reservoir to fill before dispensing. An audible pump cycle confirms water is being drawn. If no pump cycle is heard after 5 minutes, check the probe-to-bottle cap connection and ensure the bottle is seated properly on the tray.
Placement requirements
Place the cooler on a flat, level surface (level within 2 degrees). Position at least 6 inches from walls for compressor ventilation. Do not place in direct sunlight or in an area with ambient temperature above 90F -- the compressor will run continuously and may overheat. A standard 120V / 15A dedicated circuit is recommended -- Glacier Bay coolers draw 100-200W depending on the compressor cycle. The cooler should not share a circuit with other high-draw appliances.
