Glacier Bay water cooler lineup at Home Depot
Glacier Bay water coolers are manufactured under the Home Depot private label and are not available through other retailers. The lineup focuses on two form factors: top-load coolers (where the 5-gallon bottle sits inverted on top of the unit) and bottom-load coolers (where the bottle sits inside a cabinet at the base and is connected via a pump). Both types cool water to approximately 40-50F and heat to 185-200F using compressor cooling and resistance heating.
Top-load models -- the budget entry point
Glacier Bay top-load coolers start at approximately $100-140 and offer hot/cold dispensing from two spigots. The top-load design requires lifting a full 5-gallon bottle (approximately 42 lbs) to the top of the unit -- a weekly task in a household that consumes 5 gallons per week. The top-load models do not include filtration -- water quality is entirely determined by the 5-gallon bottled water supplier. Glacier Bay top-load units include a removable drip tray and a cold thermostat for temperature adjustment.
Bottom-load models -- the convenience upgrade
Glacier Bay bottom-load coolers eliminate the bottle-lifting requirement. The 5-gallon bottle rests horizontally inside the lower cabinet and connects to a motorized pump that draws water upward to the dispense tanks. The bottom-load design costs approximately $180-220 and includes the same hot and cold dispensing capability as the top-load units. The lower cabinet door opens for easy bottle swap -- a pull-out sliding tray in premium models makes this a one-person operation. Bottom-load Glacier Bay units include a lockout switch for the hot water tap (child-safety).
