Which Bosch models include a water dispenser
Bosch refrigerators with internal water and ice dispensers include: French door models in the 800, 500, and 300 series (B36 and B21 chassis); side-by-side models (B36CL); and selected 4-door FlexBar models. The dispenser uses the UltraClarity Pro filter in all current Bosch refrigerators sold in the U.S. market. Bosch counter-depth models (B30 series) include dispensers on most configurations. Bottom-freezer models (B24CB80SSS and related) do not typically include water dispensers.
UltraClarity Pro vs third-party compatible filters
Bosch recommends genuine UltraClarity Pro filters (part 11034151). Third-party compatible filters claiming UltraClarity Pro compatibility are widely sold at lower prices ($15-25 vs $35-45 for OEM). The NSF certification on the OEM filter specifically applies to the Bosch-tested filter only -- third-party filters may or may not be tested to the same NSF 42/53 standard. For households with lead concerns where NSF 53 certification is important, using the certified Bosch OEM filter is the defensible choice. For households where the primary concern is chlorine taste (NSF 42), a third-party filter may be adequate at lower cost -- verify that the specific third-party product is independently NSF 42 certified (not just "compatible").
Supplementing Bosch refrigerator filtration
The Bosch refrigerator dispenser filter treats only the water dispensed through the refrigerator (drinking and ice making). The kitchen sink, other fixtures, and appliances receive unfiltered water. The Bosch refrigerator dispenser filter is not designed to be the sole water treatment for a household -- it is a point-of-use device for the refrigerator output only.
