Pre-Installation: Rough-In, Circuit, and Delivery Inspection
Confirm the 12-inch rough-in dimension (center of floor drain to finished wall) matches the Woodbridge model specifications. Inspect the toilet carton on delivery for visible shipping damage -- both the B-0960 and T-0020 are heavy (approximately 100 to 120 pounds) and porcelain damage during freight is not uncommon. Inspect the tank area, seat hinge area, and bowl rim before installation. Report damage to the seller within 48 hours. A dedicated 20-amp GFCI circuit within 4 feet of the toilet position should be in place before the toilet is installed -- it is difficult to access the outlet location after the toilet is set.
Step 1 -- Remove Existing Toilet
Shut the toilet supply valve. Flush to empty the tank. Disconnect the supply hose. Remove the tank from the bowl (on two-piece toilets, tank bolts are inside the tank). Remove the bowl by prying off the bolt caps at the base, removing the nuts, and rocking the bowl to break the wax seal. Lift the bowl with a helper -- toilet bowls can weigh 50 to 80 pounds. Plug the drain flange with a rag. Remove the old wax ring from the flange with a putty knife and clean the flange surface. Inspect the toilet flange for cracks or corrosion -- a damaged flange should be repaired before the new toilet is set.
Step 2 -- Set the Woodbridge Toilet and Connect Water Supply
Place the new wax ring on the drain flange (flat side down, wax side up). With a helper, lift the Woodbridge toilet and lower it over the flange bolts, aligning the bolt holes at the toilet base with the floor flange bolts. Press firmly downward to seat the wax ring -- sitting on the toilet briefly helps fully compress the wax. Thread the flange nuts and tighten evenly until the toilet no longer rocks. Install the decorative bolt caps. Connect the water supply hose from the shutoff valve to the toilet fill valve inlet at the base of the tank (standard 7/8-inch connection). Open the shutoff valve slowly and allow the tank to fill completely.
Step 3 -- Electrical Connection and Sensor Calibration
Plug the Woodbridge power cord into the GFCI outlet. The toilet control board will run a startup diagnostic: the lid will open and close, the nozzle will extend and retract, and the control panel will illuminate. Wait for the startup cycle to complete (approximately 30 seconds) before touching any controls. Sensor calibration for the PIR approach detector is automatic -- the sensor calibrates to the ambient infrared background during the first 5 minutes after power-on. Avoid walking near the toilet during this calibration window to ensure accurate baseline calibration. For the foot sensor (B-0960), test by slowly moving a hand within 4 inches of the base sensor -- the lid should open. Adjust the foot sensor sensitivity via the remote SETUP menu if the sensor is triggering inadvertently.
Step 4 -- First-Use Function Test and Remote Pairing
Pair the wireless remote to the toilet by pressing and holding the PAIR button on the toilet side panel for 3 seconds, then pressing any button on the remote. The lid indicator will flash to confirm pairing. Test each function via the remote: lid open/close, flush (light and full), posterior wash at minimum pressure (sit on the seat to activate occupancy sensor first), increase pressure through all 5 settings, heated seat, dryer, deodorizer, and oscillating mode. On the B-0960, test pulsating mode and auto-flush by sitting on the seat and then standing -- the lid should close after the delay period and then the flush should activate. Register the Woodbridge toilet at the Woodbridge website for the 1-year limited warranty on parts and electronics.
