Pre-Installation Requirements
Check that a GFCI-protected 120V outlet is within 4 feet of the toilet -- the Whirlpool bidet power cord is 4 feet long and should not be extended with a standard extension cord (use only UL-listed appliance extension cords if an extension is unavoidable). Confirm your toilet bowl shape matches the seat model purchased: elongated models fit bowls measuring 18 to 19 inches from seat bolt holes to the front rim; round models fit 16 to 17-inch bowls. The WBS series mounting plate accommodates standard 5.5-inch bolt hole spacing. Non-standard Japanese one-piece toilets may require the optional Whirlpool adapter bracket (sold separately, part WBS-ADP-01).
Step 1 -- Remove Old Seat and Prep the Bowl
Turn off the toilet shutoff valve and flush to empty the tank. Remove the existing toilet seat by unscrewing the hinge bolts from underneath the bowl rim. Clean the bolt hole area and the top of the rim where the new mounting plate will sit. If the bolt holes are elongated or cracked, repair with a porcelain repair kit before proceeding -- the Whirlpool mounting plate bolts clamp firmly and can widen hairline cracks over time.
Step 2 -- Install the Water T-Adapter
Disconnect the existing supply line from the toilet tank fill valve. Thread the Whirlpool T-adapter onto the fill valve shank. The adapter accepts standard 7/8-inch slip-joint connections. Hand-tighten the adapter, then add one quarter turn with a wrench. Reconnect the existing supply hose to the lower port of the T-adapter. Attach the Whirlpool bidet supply hose (included) to the side port. Route the hose along the wall or inside the tank area to the bidet seat inlet port -- the WBS-300 inlet is on the left side of the seat.
Step 3 -- Mount Seat and Connect Water
Position the Whirlpool mounting plate over the toilet bolt holes. Insert the mounting bolts through the plate holes and bowl rim, thread the nuts from below, and tighten hand-tight. Use a wrench to snug the nuts -- stop when the plate no longer rotates; do not over-torque. Slide the WBS seat onto the mounting plate from the rear until both locking tabs engage audibly. Connect the bidet supply hose to the seat inlet port and hand-tighten the coupling nut. Open the shutoff valve slowly and inspect all joints for leaks. Plug the power cord into the GFCI outlet.
Step 4 -- Wi-Fi Pairing (WBS-300 Only) and Function Test
Download the Whirlpool app and create or log into a Whirlpool account. Tap "Add appliance" and select "Bidet seat." Follow the in-app pairing steps: the app will prompt you to press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the WBS-300 control panel for 3 seconds until the indicator blinks blue. Select your 2.4 GHz home network and enter the password. Pairing typically completes in under 2 minutes. After connection, test all functions via the app: seat heat, posterior wash at minimum pressure, dryer, and synchronized dual wash mode. For WBS-200, skip pairing and test via the wireless remote directly. Run a nozzle self-clean cycle as the final step.
