Nozzle Wand Assembly -- Most Frequently Replaced Part
The Bia nozzle wand is a single replaceable assembly that includes the nozzle tip, diffuser collar, and retraction rod. Part number for the elongated Bia nozzle wand is BIA-NZL-E; the round bowl version is BIA-NZL-R. Signs of nozzle wear include reduced spray pressure despite clean filters, visible mineral deposits on the tip that do not clear after a self-clean cycle, and irregular spray direction. Nozzle replacement takes under 10 minutes -- open the rear access panel, press the release tab on the wand housing, pull the wand out, and slide the replacement in until it clicks.
Inlet Water Filter -- Replace Every 6 Months
The Moen Bia inlet filter is a sediment screen that protects the solenoid valve and nozzle from particulate. Part number BIA-FLT-01 fits all Bia models. In areas with hard water or well water, replace every 3 to 4 months. The filter housing is located at the water inlet port on the side of the seat. Unscrew the inlet hose, pull the filter cartridge out with needle-nose pliers, insert the replacement, and reconnect the hose. A clogged filter reduces spray pressure and can cause the solenoid valve to work harder, shortening its service life.
Solenoid Valve -- The Water Flow Control Component
The solenoid valve opens and closes the water supply under signal from the Bia control board. Symptoms of a failing solenoid include water continuing to flow after wash cycle ends, no water flow despite correct settings, or a buzzing sound during operation. The Bia solenoid (part BIA-SOL-V1) is a 12V DC normally-closed valve. Replacement requires accessing the seat internals -- remove the seat from the mounting plate, remove the four interior screws on the bottom shell, and swap the valve. This is an intermediate repair; users uncomfortable with electrical components should contact Moen support.
Seat Heating Element and Control Board
The carbon fiber seat heating element (BIA-HTR-S) rarely fails in normal use but can develop hot spots or open circuits after several years. Symptoms include uneven heating or seat heat that no longer responds to settings. The control board (BIA-PCB-01) governs all functions -- if multiple features stop working simultaneously, the board is the likely cause. Both parts are available through Moen authorized service dealers and the Moen parts website. Moen offers a one-year limited warranty on parts and labor for the Bia seat; extended coverage through Moen is available at purchase. For sourcing, Moen authorized dealers, the Moen website parts portal, and select plumbing supply houses carry genuine Bia components.
