WaterBoss Installation Guide (2–3 Hour DIY)
WaterBoss installs in a single all-in-one cabinet — no separate mineral tank, brine tank, or interconnecting brine line to manage. The cabinet ships assembled and ready for plumbing connections and electrical hookup.
Installation Steps
- Shut off main water supply.
- Choose installation point on main supply line, after pressure regulating valve, before water heater.
- Install the included bypass valve on the supply line.
- Connect the WaterBoss inlet and outlet ports to the bypass valve using the included fittings (3/4" or 1" NPT).
- Connect the drain line (3/4" ID tubing) to a floor drain or laundry tub. Maximum 8-foot run; no uphill drain runs without a pump.
- Plug into 110V grounded outlet.
- Add 40 lbs of pellet salt to the brine compartment inside the cabinet (lift the salt door on the front panel).
- Restore water pressure slowly at the bypass valve.
- Set time on the control head. Enter hardness and iron level per the display prompts.
- Run a manual regeneration cycle to flush the resin bed.
WaterBoss-Specific Notes
WaterBoss uses a micro-computer control head that is simpler to program than a Fleck 5600SXT but offers fewer advanced options. The hardness and iron settings must be entered in GPG — if your water report provides mg/L (ppm), divide by 17.1 to convert to GPG. The built-in sediment filter element (included) should be rinsed under tap water during the first month if initial water was particularly turbid.
