SpringWell CF Series Installation Guide
SpringWell CF softeners ship fully assembled (valve pre-installed on mineral tank) with a companion brine tank, installation manual, and bypass valve. Plan for a 3–5 hour DIY installation or a $200–$350 plumber visit. SpringWell provides installation video walkthroughs on their website that most handy homeowners find sufficient.
Installation Requirements
- 3/4" or 1" main supply line cutoff point after the PRV
- Drain within 8 feet for brine discharge during regeneration (SpringWell uses 1/2" drain line)
- 110V outlet within 6 feet for the control head
- Space: CF1 mineral tank is 10"×48"; brine tank is 18"×33"
Key Installation Steps
- Shut off main, drain line pressure at a nearby faucet.
- Install bypass valve at the chosen supply line cutoff point.
- Connect bypass valve to softener inlet and outlet using the included tubing and fittings.
- Route brine line from brine tank to the valve brine port.
- Fill brine tank with 80 lbs of pellet salt (not block salt or rock salt — pellets dissolve most evenly).
- Add 3 gallons of water to brine tank to begin brine solution.
- Power on the control head. Use SpringWell's setup wizard to set hardness and household size.
- Open bypass to service position. Check all connections.
- Run a forced regeneration to flush resin shipping solution.
SpringWell Support During Installation
SpringWell offers a live chat and phone support line during installation. If you encounter an unusual fitting size or discover your supply line configuration differs from the standard, SpringWell can ship additional fittings free of charge within the first 30 days. This level of support is a meaningful differentiator vs. buying a bare Fleck valve system from an online reseller without installation support.
