Bosch Dishwasher Salt: What to Buy and What to Avoid
Bosch dishwashers require regeneration salt specifically formulated for dishwasher softener systems -- NOT standard table salt, water softener pellets, or rock salt. Suitable dishwasher salts: Finish Powerball Dishwasher Salt ($10--$15 for 4 lbs at Amazon and Target), Aldi Tandil Dishwasher Salt (where available), or generic dishwasher regeneration salt available at European grocery stores and online. Unsuitable: table salt (iodized or non-iodized -- anti-caking agents damage the resin bed); water softener pellets (standard evaporated salt pellets are not food-grade or appliance-grade for dishwasher use); sea salt or kosher salt (same problem as table salt).
