Unpacking your CO-Z distiller
CO-Z distillers ship via Amazon in a single carton with the collection pitcher packed alongside the distillation unit. Inspect both components upon arrival: check the condenser head and boiling chamber for any physical damage from shipping, and inspect the plastic pitcher for cracks (rare but worth checking). The included carbon post-filter sachets are typically loose in the box or packaged in a small bag inside the pitcher — locate them before starting setup.
Placement
CO-Z distillers have the same placement requirements as all countertop distillers: flat surface, 120V outlet, clearance on all sides. Specific considerations for the CO-Z's 750W element: the boiling chamber exterior reaches approximately 140–160°F during operation — use a silicone mat or pot holder on wood or laminate. The fan is audible at approximately 55–60 dB during the cycle; plan for this in your placement decision (bedroom vs kitchen placement).
Break-in and first productive run
Run one to two break-in cycles and discard the output. The CO-Z's new stainless surfaces produce a slight metallic taste in early output — less pronounced than in some premium brands but still present. One full break-in cycle is the minimum; two is more conservative and recommended. After break-in: fill the chamber, insert a carbon sachet in the nozzle, position the collection pitcher, press start. The 750W element brings the chamber to boiling in approximately 35–45 minutes, and output begins dripping. Total cycle: approximately 4–4.5 hours. The CO-Z shuts off automatically when the cycle completes.
Daily operation tip: transfer immediately to glass
The single most important operational step for CO-Z users who drink the distilled output: pour the collected water from the plastic pitcher into glass or stainless steel containers immediately after each cycle. Do not store distilled water in the plastic pitcher for extended periods. A 1-gallon glass mason jar (Ball or Kerr wide-mouth) placed in the refrigerator after each transfer is an inexpensive solution that eliminates the plastic contact concern entirely. The CO-Z produces genuine distilled water — keep it in glass storage and the output quality matches any premium distiller.
