The A.O. Smith Z8 Zip Hydroguard is a countertop water purifier and on-demand hot and cold water dispenser that connects to a standard kitchen faucet aerator adapter. The 5-stage filtration system includes sediment pre-filtration, activated carbon for chlorine and taste reduction, reverse osmosis membrane (75 GPD), UV sterilization, and a post-carbon polishing stage. UV sterilization at the final stage before dispensing inactivates 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, a feature particularly valued in areas with older municipal infrastructure or private well supply. Water heats on demand to 85-95 degrees C or warms to 35-55 degrees C in approximately 3 seconds using the instant-heat element. The hot water safety lock prevents accidental scalding during normal dispensing. Cold water is chilled to approximately 10 degrees C using the integrated thermoelectric cooling module. A.O.
