About Sterling
Sterling is a Kohler Company subsidiary brand (acquired by Kohler in 1984), positioned as the volume tract-builder and value-residential plumbing line. Manufactured in Wisconsin alongside Kohler products but engineered to a different price point — Sterling toilets, faucets, and showers are stocked at Home Depot and Lowes as the "Kohler-quality without the Kohler price" alternative. The toilet line includes the Stinson, Karsten, and Riverton series — primarily two-piece elongated 1.28 GPF models for new-construction spec houses.

About Skirted-Trapway Toilets toilets
A skirted-trapway toilet conceals the curving porcelain trapway underneath the bowl behind a smooth, flat outer skirt that extends from the bowl rim down to floor level. The visible silhouette is just a smooth vertical face — no exposed plumbing curves to dust around. It's the design feature that genuinely changes how often you clean the toilet.
On a traditional two-piece toilet (Kohler Cimarron, TOTO Drake II, American Standard Cadet 3), the curving trapway is visible from the side — you can see the S-shaped porcelain curve underneath the bowl. Dust, grime, mineral residue, and wayward hair all accumulate on those exterior curves. Cleaning involves navigating around them with a rag and a toilet brush.
A skirted-trapway design eliminates those exterior curve...
