Aquasana AQ-4100 Deluxe Shower Water Filter System
Aquasana AQ-4100 Deluxe Shower Water Filter System Review
Aquasana AQ-4100: The Best-Tested Shower Filter
The Aquasana AQ-4100 uses a two-stage copper-zinc and carbon filtration system independently tested by NSF International. The first stage -- a granular copper-zinc oxidation medium (similar to KDF-55 but with a higher copper content) -- reacts with chlorine molecules to form harmless chloride. The second stage, a coconut-shell carbon block, captures chloramine, THMs, and VOCs. The system is rated for 10,000 gallons, approximately 6 months of daily use.
What It Filters
Chlorine (99%), chloramine, hydrogen sulfide (removes rotten-egg odor), scale, and synthetic chemicals. The AQ-4100 does not soften water -- it does not use ion exchange -- but it significantly reduces the chemical load of hard chlorinated municipal water. Aquasana publishes third-party lab reports on its website for each contaminant claimed.
Installation
The inline filter housing threads between the shower arm and included showerhead. The included head is a single-spray unit; any standard 1/2-inch NPT showerhead can be swapped onto the filter housing. Filter replacement (AQ-4100R) takes about 2 minutes -- unscrew the canister, insert the new cartridge, and reinstall.
