Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian Full Contact RO System Review

The Home Master TMAFC-ERP is the system that established the "artesian remineralization" concept in the residential RO market and the only major product that uses Full Contact technology -- a design where filtered water makes contact with the remineralization media twice: once after the membrane (standard) and once after the storage tank before dispensing. The double-contact approach produces more consistent mineralization at the faucet because water sitting in the storage tank's bladder continues mineral uptake, unlike single-pass systems where mineral levels drop if the tank holds water for extended periods.

The TMAFC uses a 7-stage configuration: PP sediment, carbon block, carbon block (pre-membrane), TFC RO membrane (NSF 58), first remineralization stage (calcite), storage tank, second remineralization/carbon polish (post-tank contact). Output TDS is typically 50-80 ppm from a 200-400 ppm source -- significantly higher than bare-RO systems -- with a pH of 7.0-8.5. The water has a distinctly "spring water" taste profile that most users find more appealing than ultra-pure RO output.

The TMAFC-ERP also solves the RO flow rate problem differently from tankless systems: rather than a 50 GPD membrane, it uses a high-flow 75 GPD membrane with an upgraded non-electric permeate pump (ERP = Enhanced Remineralization Pump) that uses pressure differential to reduce the waste ratio from the typical 4:1 to approximately 2:1 -- cutting drain water waste in half without requiring electricity. The permeate pump is a mechanical device, not electric, and is notably reliable in practice.

The Perfluorooctane (PFAS) removal on the TMAFC matches standard TFC membrane performance: 95%+ removal. NSF 58 certification covers the full contaminant list. Annual filter cost is $100-$130 (the two remineralization stages add cost compared to standard systems) but this includes the media that other homeowners buy separately as add-ons. First-year total cost of ownership is approximately $475-$580.

Pros
  • Full Contact dual-remineralization -- more consistent mineral output
  • Non-electric permeate pump cuts waste ratio to ~2:1
  • Artesian pH 7-8.5 output -- excellent taste
  • NSF 58 certified
  • 75 GPD high-flow membrane
Cons
  • $100-$130/yr filter cost -- premium over standard RO
  • Higher upfront price than traditional RO systems
  • Full Contact design adds complexity -- more parts to fail over time
