The Frizzlife PD600-TAM3 is a tankless system -- no storage tank to mount. The unit itself is compact (approximately 15" x 4" x 17") and mounts vertically to the under-sink cabinet wall or stands on the cabinet floor. Total install time for a confident DIYer: 45-60 minutes. The most complex step is the 110V power connection -- confirm an outlet is accessible under the sink before starting.
Pre-installation checklist
- 110V outlet: Required for the pump. Check for an outlet in the under-sink cabinet. If absent, contact an electrician for GFCI outlet installation ($150-$300).
- Supply pressure: 15-80 PSI operating range. The PD600-TAM3's internal pump compensates for low supply pressure, making it viable in low-pressure apartments and well systems.
- Cold supply shutoff: Confirm the shutoff valve under the sink is functional and closes fully.
- Under-sink clearance: 15" wide x 4" deep x 17" tall for the unit. No additional space for a storage tank.
Step 1: Cold water supply connection
Shut off the cold supply valve. Disconnect the supply line from the valve output port. Install the Frizzlife 3/8"-to-1/4" T-fitting between the valve and the existing supply line -- the existing line connects to one port of the T, the Frizzlife blue (feed) tubing connects to the second port via a push-in fitting. Push firmly, pull gently to confirm seating. Restore supply line connection to the faucet side of the T-fitting.
Step 2: Drain saddle clamp
Locate the horizontal kitchen drain pipe above the P-trap. Mark a spot on the top quarter of the pipe (10 o'clock or 2 o'clock position, never at 6 o'clock). Drill a 1/4" hole using the included bit. Fit the drain saddle clamp around the pipe, aligning the saddle port over the hole. Tighten both clamp bolts alternately until snug -- even pressure prevents the clamp from tilting and creating a partial seal that drips. Connect the yellow (drain) tubing from the PD600-TAM3's drain port to the saddle port.
Step 3: Mount the PD600-TAM3
The PD600-TAM3 includes a wall-mount bracket that screws into the cabinet side panel or back wall. Alternatively, the unit can stand upright on the cabinet floor. Wall mounting is preferred for stability and to keep the unit off the floor. Hang the unit on the bracket -- it clicks into place. Ensure the unit is vertical; tilted installation can affect internal pump hydraulics and drain line check valve seating.
Step 4: Power connection
Connect the power adapter (included, 110V to 24V DC) to the PD600-TAM3's DC input port. Plug the adapter into the 110V outlet. The unit should not power on yet -- it activates when water flow is initiated. Run the power cord neatly to avoid it being pinched by the cabinet door or the unit's body.
Step 5: Dedicated faucet installation
The PD600-TAM3 ships with a chrome or brushed nickel dedicated faucet. Install in an existing extra sink hole (remove the existing plug) or drill a new 1-3/8" hole. Thread the faucet shank through from above, secure the mounting nut from below (hand-tight plus one full turn). Connect the black (output) tubing from the PD600-TAM3's output port to the faucet's lower port using the included push-in fitting.
Step 6: First flush
Open the cold supply valve. Open the dedicated faucet. The pump activates immediately -- expect the flow to normalize within 15-30 seconds as the system pressurizes. Run water for 3 minutes continuously to flush carbon fines from the composite pre-filter and any assembly residue from the RO membrane housing. After flushing, check output TDS: expect 5-15% of source water TDS. The 1.5:1 waste ratio system produces roughly 1.5 gallons of drain water for every 1 gallon dispensed -- this is audible as a modest continuous drain flow whenever the faucet is open.
Common installation issues
- No water from faucet after power-on: Check that the blue tubing push-in connection to the T-fitting is fully seated. Partially seated push-in fittings allow air to pass but not water, producing no flow at the pump inlet.
- Pump runs but very low flow at faucet: Drain line kink or partial saddle clog. Check drain line runs freely. Confirm saddle hole is fully open (drill through the pipe completely, not just the outer wall).
- Water from faucet is not filtered (TDS reads same as source): RO membrane module may not be fully seated. Remove and firmly reseat the membrane module until the locking click is felt.
- Dripping from drain saddle: Saddle clamp bolts not uniformly tight. Tighten bolts alternately in small increments until drip stops.
