Frizzlife SK99 3-Stage Under-Sink Water Filter System Review

The Frizzlife SK99 is a 3-stage under-sink carbon filtration system, not a reverse osmosis system. It belongs in this comparison for the same reason the APEC WFS-1000 does: many buyers evaluating "water filtration under sink" are choosing between a carbon system and a full RO, and the SK99 is a strong representative of the carbon-filter option at the Frizzlife price point.

The SK99 uses a 0.5-micron composite carbon block as its primary filtration stage -- finer than most competing under-sink carbon filters at this price (most are 5-micron or 1-micron). This sub-micron pore size allows the SK99 to capture giardia and cryptosporidium cysts (nominally removed by mechanical filtration at 1 micron; at 0.5 micron the capture rate improves), trace VOCs, and micro-particulate that 5-micron filters pass. NSF 42 certification covers chlorine, taste, and odor reduction. The system does not remove TDS, heavy metals, nitrate, or PFAS.

Installation is straightforward: tap the cold supply line, run supply tubing to the filter housing, run output tubing to either the existing cold-water faucet (with a T-diverter) or a dedicated faucet. No drain connection required. No storage tank. Full-pressure output at whatever flow rate the cold supply delivers. Install time is 20-30 minutes.

The SK99's Frizzlife twist-off filter design applies here too -- the composite block cartridge replaces at 6-9 months with a quarter-turn. No tools. Replacement cartridges run $25-$40 for the composite block. Total annual cost: $30-$50 including the backup carbon polish stage. For households whose water is municipal, chlorinated, and otherwise clean, the SK99 delivers better-tasting water for roughly one-fifth the cost of a full RO system.

Pros
  • 0.5-micron filtration -- captures giardia and crypto cysts
  • Full-pressure output -- no storage tank needed
  • Tool-free cartridge swap
  • NSF 42 certified
  • Very low annual filter cost ($30-$50)
  • Simplest install in category
Cons
  • Not an RO -- no TDS, heavy metal, nitrate, or PFAS removal
  • For clean municipal water only -- not for contaminated sources
