Culligan FM-25 Faucet Mount Water Filter
Culligan FM-25 Faucet Mount Water Filter Review
Culligan FM-25: NSF 42 and 53 Dual Certification
The Culligan FM-25 is NSF/ANSI certified under both Standard 42 (aesthetic reduction: chlorine taste and odor) and Standard 53 (health effects: lead reduction). Dual certification is uncommon in faucet-mount filters -- most units carry NSF 42 only. The FM-25 reduces lead to below NSF 53 action level, qualifying it for use in Tier 1 lead-risk households where faucet filtration is the first intervention before a full under-sink system is installed.
Installation
The FM-25 installs on most standard kitchen faucets without tools -- the adapter kit includes four thread-size adapters to fit aerator threads from 15/16-inch to 55/64-inch female. A diverter valve on the unit switches between unfiltered direct flow and filtered output, allowing the filter to remain installed during normal unfiltered use (to avoid wasting filter capacity on tasks that do not require filtration: dishwashing, rinsing vegetables).
Filter Life
The filter cartridge (model FM-25R, approximately $18) is rated for 200 gallons -- about 2 months of filtered drinking use for a family of four. An indicator light on the housing turns red at 200 gallons. The cartridge swaps in under 30 seconds without tools.
