Aquadimmer Spray Module: Three-Nozzle Position System
The Aquadimmer spray module in the Sensia Arena uses a motorized linear slide that positions the nozzle wand across three fixed points corresponding to posterior, feminine, and perineal wash positions. Unlike retrofit bidet seats that use a simple two-position wand (posterior and feminine), the three-position Aquadimmer system provides a dedicated perineal position -- valuable for post-surgical hygiene, hemorrhoid care, and users with specific anatomical requirements. At each of the three positions, a spray width diffuser ring adjusts the exit orifice diameter across five settings using a separate motor, producing stream widths from 8mm to 18mm without changing the water pressure. This independent control of position and width is possible in the Sensia Arena because the integrated design allows the required electronics volume without the constraints of a retrofit seat housing.
PureGuard Ceramic Bowl Coating
PureGuard is Grohe's proprietary ceramic glaze applied to the Sensia Arena bowl during manufacturing. The glaze contains silver ion particles (Ag+) distributed throughout the ceramic matrix -- silver ions interfere with bacterial cell membrane function, creating an antimicrobial surface effect. Independent testing by Grohe shows PureGuard surfaces reduce bacterial count by up to 99.9 percent compared to standard uncoated ceramic under controlled conditions. The coating is permanent -- it does not wear off with cleaning products or normal use -- because the silver ions are embedded in the ceramic body rather than applied as a surface film. The PureGuard surface also reduces scale adhesion by approximately 30 percent compared to standard ceramic, extending cleaning intervals.
In-Line Water Heating in an Integrated System
Because the Sensia Arena is designed as a complete system, the in-line water heater capacity is larger than retrofit seat in-line heaters. The Sensia Arena heating element draws up to 1,400 watts and processes water through a longer ceramic heating path, providing genuinely uninterrupted warm water at the target temperature for extended wash cycles. The integrated design also allows the heater to be pre-activated by the automatic lid sensor before the user is seated -- when the lid opens automatically (sensing approach via infrared), the heater begins the pre-warm sequence so warm water is available immediately upon cycle start. This pre-activation is possible because the system controller has access to lid position data that a retrofit seat does not.
EcoJoy Flush System and Grohe DualFlush
The Sensia Arena EcoJoy flush system uses a DualFlush actuator plate (or button panel on some configurations) that offers 0.8 GPF for liquid waste and 1.6 GPF for full flush. The flush valve mechanism is a sealed unit within the integrated tank or in-wall cistern (depending on configuration). EcoJoy integrates a slow-fill valve that reduces noise during tank refill -- the same valve technology Grohe uses in its standalone flush valve product line. The cistern and flush valve are accessible through the wall panel for maintenance on in-wall configurations; floor-mounted configurations access the flush mechanism from the tank top. Grohe recommends annual inspection of the flush valve seal by a licensed plumber to maintain EcoJoy efficiency performance over time.
