Non-Electric Installation: What You Need and What to Expect
For the non-electric Glacier Bay bidet seat, gather: adjustable wrench, flathead screwdriver, and the hardware included in the box (mounting bolts, nuts, and a Y-valve or T-adapter). Some non-electric Glacier Bay models include a separate Y-valve for the supply line; others integrate the water connection directly into the seat body. Confirm which model you have by checking the box contents before starting. No GFCI outlet is needed for the non-electric model. The installation takes approximately 15 minutes.
Step 1 -- Remove Existing Seat (Both Models)
Turn the toilet shutoff valve clockwise to close. Flush to empty the tank. Remove the existing toilet seat by lifting the hinge bolt covers, holding the bolt head with a screwdriver, and unscrewing the nut from below. Lift the seat and hinge assembly off the bowl. Clean the bolt hole area. For the non-electric model, also disconnect the existing supply hose from the fill valve to install the Y-valve or T-adapter that supplies water to the bidet wand.
Step 2 -- Water Connection Installation
Non-electric model: Thread the supplied Y-valve or T-adapter onto the fill valve shank. Hand-tighten and snug with a wrench (one quarter turn past hand-tight). Reconnect the existing supply hose to one port of the Y-valve and connect the bidet supply hose to the other port. Route the bidet hose under the toilet and up to the bidet seat connection point on the right side of the seat housing where the control dial is located. Electric model: Install the T-adapter at the fill valve shank in the same manner, then connect the bidet supply hose to the seat inlet port on the left rear of the electric seat housing.
Step 3 -- Mount the Seat and Final Connections
Position the Glacier Bay mounting plate over the toilet bolt holes. The mounting plate adjusts to accommodate 5.5-inch bolt spacing. Insert bolts through the plate and bowl holes, thread nuts from below, and tighten evenly. Slide the Glacier Bay bidet seat onto the plate until locked. Connect the bidet supply hose to the seat and hand-tighten the coupling. For the electric model, plug the power cord into a GFCI outlet and allow the reservoir tank to pre-heat for 5 minutes before testing.
Step 4 -- Dial Calibration and Leak Check
Open the shutoff valve slowly. Inspect all connection points for drips. For the non-electric model, test each nozzle port by turning the control dial slowly clockwise -- water should flow smoothly without drips from the dial area or connections. Turn fully clockwise and confirm maximum flow, then return to the closed position. For the electric model, sit on the seat and test each wash function starting at the lowest setting. Confirm warm water delivers within 5 to 10 seconds at medium heat setting. If water is cold throughout a 60-second cycle, allow more reservoir pre-heat time (up to 15 minutes for full pre-heat on cold ambient days). Return policy at Home Depot is 90 days for most Glacier Bay products with receipt.
