Tankless Flush System: How Pressure Flushing Works Without a Tank

A conventional gravity-flush toilet stores 1 to 1.6 gallons in a tank elevated above the bowl, then releases it as flush force. The DeerValley tankless system instead uses household water pressure directly: a motorized solenoid valve opens on flush activation, allowing pressurized supply water to enter the bowl through a concealed rim channel. The rim channel geometry directs water in a swirling pattern to create the washing action that gravity tanks produce from volume alone. This requires a minimum supply pressure of 25 PSI to create adequate swirl velocity. At supply pressures above 80 PSI, a pressure reducing valve (PRV) is required -- without it, the solenoid valve and the flush actuator are subjected to excess pressure that accelerates wear and can cause incomplete valve closure.

In-Line Water Heating: Continuous Warm Water Delivery

Both DeerValley models use a ceramic in-line heating element for bidet wash water. The element draws 1,200 watts during active heating and brings water to the set temperature within approximately 2 seconds of flow initiation. Unlike reservoir systems, there is no maximum continuous warm water volume -- the heater maintains temperature throughout an extended wash cycle. The heater is protected by a thermal cutoff fuse (TCF) that opens if the element temperature exceeds 140 degrees Celsius, preventing overheating in the event of flow failure. If the thermal cutoff opens, the bidet wash function will produce only cold water -- this is a safety indicator, not a defect. TCF replacement is a service repair requiring element compartment access.

Approach-Detect Lid Sensor (DV-2F52015)

The DV-2F52015 lid opens automatically when an infrared sensor in the toilet base detects an approaching user within approximately 1 meter. The sensor is a passive infrared (PIR) type that detects body heat movement rather than light reflection. PIR sensors are less likely to trigger on pets than camera-based or ultrasonic systems, though small dogs and cats may still trigger the lid in some installations. The sensor sensitivity and the detection range are not adjustable in the current DV-2F52015 firmware. The lid closes automatically after the user vacates the detection zone for a configurable period (default 30 seconds, adjustable via the remote to 30, 60, or 90 seconds).

Deodorizer and Oscillating Spray Mode (DV-2F52015)

The DV-2F52015 deodorizer uses a centrifugal fan that draws air from the bowl area through an activated carbon cartridge filter. The fan activates automatically when the lid closes with occupancy (detected via seat pressure sensor) and continues for a configurable post-use period. Carbon cartridge replacement (DeerValley part DV-DEOD-CART) is recommended every 6 months. The oscillating spray mode on the DV-2F52015 uses a small stepping motor to shift the nozzle position continuously across a 2-centimeter range during active wash, providing broader coverage without changing the water pressure. The stepping motor adds a faint mechanical noise during oscillating mode -- this is normal and not a defect.
