Positioning a clawfoot tub
Clawfoot tubs are freestanding -- they can be positioned anywhere in the bathroom with adequate clearance. The standard positioning is centered in the bathroom with at least 18" clearance on all sides. The supply rough-in (two valves -- hot and cold) should be pre-planned at floor level near the planned tub position, with supply lines terminating in 1/2" male NPT valves. Mark the supply valve positions on the subfloor before finishing the floor.
Foot installation and leveling
Kingston Brass Aqua Eden feet thread into brackets pre-installed on the tub base. Tighten the feet and adjust the leveling set screw in the center of each foot base until the tub rim is level in both directions. Clawfoot feet with the lock nut properly tightened won't rotate in service; check all four feet are firm after leveling.
Exposed riser connection
The deck-mount faucet mounts in the pre-drilled holes at the tub rim. Supply risers (chrome pipe, 1/2" OD) connect the deck-mount faucet to the floor-level wall valves -- the risers are cut to length and fitted with chrome compression fittings at each end. A plumber familiar with clawfoot risers can fit and bend the risers in 1-2 hours. Test all connections with water before finishing the bathroom.
