The Kohler KP6200 moves more water than any other portable residential pump: 6,200 gallons per hour (103 gallons per minute) at 0-foot head, from a gasoline engine that requires no electrical connection. Powered by the Kohler CH395 Command Pro 9.5 HP overhead-valve engine -- the same platform that powers commercial lawnmowers and construction equipment -- the KP6200 delivers reliable starts and continuous full-power operation in field conditions where electrical availability is uncertain.

Auto-prime: field-ready from the first pull

Centrifugal pumps require priming -- the pump body must be filled with water before the impeller can generate suction. The KP6200 includes an auto-prime mechanism: a vacuum chamber adjacent to the pump body draws air from the suction line during the first few seconds of engine operation, pulling water up without manual filling. Prime is typically achieved in under 45 seconds from a dry start at sea level, with a suction line submerged at least 12 inches below the water surface. This eliminates the priming time that was historically the primary operational delay when deploying a transfer pump for emergency dewatering.

Applications and portability

The KP6200 is the appropriate pump for: agricultural field irrigation from ponds or ditches, emergency basement dewatering after catastrophic flooding, large-volume water transfer between storage tanks, site dewatering during construction, and residential fire suppression water supply. At 57 pounds, the KP6200 is manageable for two people; pneumatic 8-inch wheels and a folding handle allow single-person repositioning over flat terrain. The 2-inch camlock discharge fittings are compatible with standard agricultural and irrigation supply-house hose couplings.
