Takagi T-KJr2-IN-LP Indoor Compact Tankless Water Heater (Propane) Review
The Takagi T-KJr2-IN-LP is the indoor propane variant of Takagi's Junior 2nd generation compact tankless. "T-KJr2" identifies the Junior 2 compact platform; "IN-LP" means indoor liquid propane.
Specs: 140,000 BTU LP input, UEF 0.83 (non-condensing), 6.6 GPM at a 35°F rise, copper heat exchanger with stainless secondary, Category III stainless B-vent venting. 10-year warranty on heat exchanger.
The Junior 2 compact LP variant serves rural propane homes with 1-2 bath demand. Smaller gas line requirements and lower install cost than full 199K BTU class.
About $1,200 unit, $2,500 installed. Right buyer: small rural propane home with sequential 1-2 bath demand.
- On-demand operation at 6.6 GPM — no standby heat loss; unlimited hot water if demand is within flow-rate capacity
- UEF 0.82 — above federal minimum EF 0.62; solid efficiency for a non-condensing gas unit
- 10-year warranty — solid above-average coverage for this class
- Requires dedicated 140K BTU gas supply line — undersized gas piping is the leading cause of flow-rate shortfalls
