Install requirements (critical)

- 700+ cubic feet of unconditioned air space around the unit — non-negotiable. Closet installs without louvered doors trip "high temperature" alarms. Basements and garages typically OK
- Condensate drain — gravity drain to floor drain OR condensate pump ($120 add-on)

Limitations
- Dealer availability — not stocked at every Ace or True Value. Larger stores in heat-pump-incentive markets carry them; smaller hardware stores often don\'t. Call ahead
- Noise: compressor produces ~50 dB — louder than standard tank. Garage or basement install only
- Cold-climate install — basement or unconditioned garage; not closet without ducting kit
