Navien Water Heater Dealers — Find a Local Authorized Installer

Navien sells through Navien Service Specialists, plumbing wholesalers, and select online retailers. What each channel offers.

Updated May 2026 · Navien Water Heaters

Navien is primarily a contractor-channel brand with selective retail openings. Four channels to consider:

1. Navien Service Specialist (NSS) — recommended

Navien Service Specialists are the brand's top-tier installer program. NSS providers:

  • Have completed Navien factory training
  • Carry Navien parts inventory
  • Have direct phone access to Navien engineering for complex diagnostics
  • Submit warranty claims directly
  • Provide extended labor warranty on some installs (varies by region)
  • Know the install requirements (gas line, venting, hydronic for combi) that generic plumbers often get wrong

Find an NSS through navieninc.com / dealer locator by ZIP. For combi boiler installs especially, NSS is meaningfully better than a generic plumber.

2. Plumbing wholesalers

Ferguson, Hajoca, Winsupply, F.W. Webb stock the full Navien catalog including NCB and NFC combi. Generally require a contractor account, but increasingly serve walk-in retail.

3. Home Depot / Lowe's

Stocks NPE-S2 entry models and some NCB models. NPE-A2 is sometimes special-order only. Limited NFC and NHB. Installation through their contractor network adds significant markup vs direct-to-NSS.

4. Amazon

Carries NPE-S2 and select NCB models from authorized sellers. Buy only from Navien America (the official seller) or top-rated authorized dealers. Off-brand Amazon listings are often gray-market or refurbished; warranty may not apply.

Combi boilers — buy through NSS

NCB and NFC combi installs are NOT good DIY projects. The hydronic design (primary/secondary loop, expansion tank, outdoor reset) needs a heating contractor. A $300 cheaper Navien NCB-240 from Amazon installed badly will cost $2,000 in service calls and warranty headaches. Always combi through an NSS.

Bottom line

For NPE tankless, buying online and finding any competent plumber to install is acceptable (provided gas line and venting are right). For combi boilers, NSS-only — the hydronic complexity rewards the experience.
