Heliodyne sells solar water heating system components individually for installations that don't fit pre-engineered Helio-Pack kits — custom designs, retrofit additions, or replacement of failed components in existing systems. The components catalog covers the same scope as full kits: collectors, controllers, pumps, tanks, mounting hardware, and ancillaries.

Heliodyne component catalog overview

Collectors

  • Gobi 408: 4x8 flat-plate collector
  • Gobi 410: 4x10 flat-plate collector (most popular)
  • Other collector configurations for commercial sizing

Differential controllers

Resol DeltaSol BS Plus or similar controllers, paired with Heliodyne for sale. These monitor collector and tank temperatures, automatically activating the circulator pump when collector temp exceeds tank temp by the configured threshold (typically 8°F differential to start, 4°F to stop).

Circulator pumps

Grundfos UPS 26-99 (or similar), sized for typical residential collector loop pressure drop. Glycol-rated pumps with high-temperature seals for solar loop service.

Solar storage tanks

Heliodyne distributes Vaughn SS tanks (stainless solar storage) and various commercial-tier tanks. Single-tank installations are typical for residential; multi-tank for commercial.

Expansion tanks for glycol loop

Sized for the closed-loop volume and pressure characteristics of the specific installation.

Mounting hardware

Roof-specific hardware: shingle roof brackets, tile roof flashings, standing seam metal clamps, ground rack systems, pole mounts. Site-specific selection critical for leak-free roof penetrations.

Ancillary components

  • Glycol-rated isolation valves
  • Air vents (eliminate trapped air in collector loop)
  • Pressure relief valves
  • Pressure gauges
  • Flow meters
  • Temperature sensor wells (for tank wall installation)
  • Pipe insulation rated for glycol-loop temperatures

Common component-only purchase scenarios

Replacement of failed components in existing systems

Helio-Pack systems installed 8–12 years ago may have failing controllers, pumps, or expansion tanks. Replacement with current components extends system life without requiring full system replacement.

Custom residential designs

Some installations don't fit pre-engineered packages — unusual roof orientations, non-standard tank capacities, hybrid solar + electric backup with non-Heliodyne electric tank, etc. Component-only purchase allows full customization.

Commercial solar DHW

Commercial systems (hotels, hospitals, multi-family housing) typically require custom sizing beyond the pre-engineered tiers. Component-only purchase supports this scale.

System expansion

Adding collectors to an existing single-collector system, or upgrading from one-tank to two-tank storage capacity. Component-only purchase enables incremental upgrades.

Component pricing reality

Component-only purchase doesn't always save money vs Helio-Pack:

  • Helio-Pack pricing benefits from bundled discounts
  • Component-only sometimes costs 10–20% more than equivalent capacity in a kit
  • Engineering time for custom design must be factored in

For 80% of residential solar DHW installations, Helio-Pack is the more cost-effective choice. Component-only justifies itself for unusual installation requirements.

Warranty for component purchases

Individual components carry their respective warranties (10-year Gobi collectors, 3–5 year controllers, etc.). System-level warranty (single point of contact for any issue) requires Helio-Pack purchase or formal Heliodyne system registration. Component-only owners typically navigate warranty claims for each component separately.

Ordering and lead times

Heliodyne maintains stock of common residential components (Gobi 408/410 collectors, standard controllers, common pump sizes). Less common items (commercial-tier collectors, specialty mounting) may require 2–4 week lead time. Solar season demand (March-June rush) can extend lead times further.

Installation support

Heliodyne provides technical support for component installations via phone and online resources. Some markets have authorized installer networks; in others, general plumbing contractors handle installation following Heliodyne's documentation. Contact Heliodyne for installer recommendations in your area.
