Eemax SP3512 Single-Point Point-of-Use Electric Tankless Water Heater
Eemax SP3512 Single-Point Point-of-Use Electric Tankless Water Heater Review
The Eemax SP3512 is a single-point point-of-use electric tankless water heater designed to feed a single low-demand fixture — a remote sink, an emergency eye wash station, or a handwash basin in a commercial-leaning residential install (workshop, garage, finished basement bar). At 3.5 kW (single 20-amp double-pole breaker, 15 amps continuous), it produces about 0.5 GPM at a 40°F rise — sufficient for handwash but not for shower or sustained pot-filling use.
Eemax positions itself as the commercial-grade alternative to EcoSmart in the point-of-use segment. The SP3512 reflects that positioning: solid brass connections (vs the EcoSmart's plastic-bodied inlet/outlet manifolds), heavier wall mount, slightly more rugged housing. The tradeoff is a shorter consumer warranty — 3 years on the heat exchanger versus EcoSmart's lifetime. The commercial-grade build is meaningful in light commercial applications where the unit may see substantially more daily cycles than typical residential use.
Specs: 3.5 kW input, 1/2" NPT water connections, copper heat exchanger, thermostatic temperature control (single dial, factory-set at 105°F adjustable to 140°F). Wall-mount form factor about 8 × 11 inches. GFCI-protected 240V supply required.
The right buyer is a homeowner whose specific install has slightly higher per-cycle reliability requirements — for example, a fully-finished basement bar that hosts frequent gatherings, or a detached workshop that doubles as a frequent guest bathroom. For typical residential point-of-use (a remote sink that gets a few daily handwash uses), the EcoSmart POU 3.5 at the same price point and similar specs is the more common choice; the longer Eemax warranty for commercial use is less of a factor in residential applications.
