Which to choose for new install
- Maintenance-averse: Atwood/Dometic (no anode)
- Hard water RV travel: Suburban (anode protects)
- Existing cutout dictates: match the brand to the cutout
Bottom line
If your RV has a Suburban cutout, replace with Suburban. If Atwood/Dometic cutout, replace with Dometic. Cross-brand swaps require RV-shop modification.
