Ruud Professional Hybrid 65-Gallon Heat Pump Water Heater
Ruud Professional Hybrid 65-Gallon Heat Pump Water Heater Review
The Ruud Professional Hybrid 65-Gallon Heat Pump Water Heater is Rheem's plumber-channel heat-pump water heater, equivalent to the Rheem ProTerra 65-gallon model. Sold through Ruud for plumber-installed applications.
Specs: 65 gallons stored, integrated heat pump compressor + 4500W backup resistance element, UEF 3.45, ENERGY STAR Most Efficient certified, 10-year tank warranty, 10-year compressor warranty. Heat-pump/hybrid/electric mode controls. Same fundamental engineering as Rheem ProTerra.
The 65-gallon capacity is sized for 4-5 person households with moderate-to-heavy hot-water demand. Larger than the standard 50-gallon ProTerra; smaller than the 80-gallon. Right answer for households where 50-gallon capacity is tight but 80-gallon is unnecessary.
About $2,200 plumber-channel pricing, $3,200 plumber-installed before federal + utility rebates. After IRA tax credit + utility rebates, net install cost often drops to $1,200-$2,000.
Install requirements (same as ProTerra): 750+ cubic feet of air around the unit, 50-90°F ambient temperature, condensate drainage access. Right install locations: basements, large utility rooms, attached garages in moderate climates.
Right buyer: 4-5 person household with adequate basement install location, accessing the heat-pump category through plumber relationship. For DIY/retail purchase, the Rheem ProTerra 65-gallon is the equivalent product.
