AeroTherm is Bradford White's hybrid heat pump line — direct competitor to Rheem ProTerra and AO Smith Voltex. 3.45 UEF, eligible for the $2,000 federal IRA tax credit.
The AeroTherm lineup
- AeroTherm Plus 50G (RE2H50R10) — 2-4 person households
- AeroTherm 80G (RE2H80R10) — 4-6 person households
- AeroTherm Lowboy 40G (LE140L3-3) — for low-clearance basement and crawl-space installs
Operating cost savings
For a 4-person household at $0.14/kWh: AeroTherm operates at $170-$240/year vs $580-$720/year for resistance electric — $400-$500/year savings, $4,800-$6,000 over 12-year tank life.
AeroTherm warranty concern
Bradford White ships 6-year warranty on AeroTherm — significantly shorter than Rheem ProTerra (10 years) and AO Smith Voltex (10 years). For long-horizon heat pump buyers, this warranty gap is real. See our BW vs Rheem comparison for the full warranty discussion.
Install requirements
Same as other heat pump water heaters: 1,000+ cu ft ambient air, condensate drain, 30-amp 240V circuit, 7+ ft ceiling clearance, ~49 dB compressor noise.
Bottom line
AeroTherm is competitive on operating cost and IRA tax credit eligibility, but the 6-year warranty trails competitors. If your installer is Bradford White-network, AeroTherm. If you have a choice, the Rheem ProTerra or AO Smith Voltex 10-year warranty is more attractive for long-horizon owners.
