AO Smith Conservationist 50-Gallon Electric Water Heater (ENT-50)
AO Smith Conservationist 50-Gallon Electric Water Heater (ENT-50) Review
The AO Smith Conservationist 50-Gallon Electric (ENT-50) is the electric counterpart to AO Smith's popular Conservationist 50-gallon Gas. Same mainstream Conservationist branding — middle tier between AO Smith's budget ProMax line and premium Signature Premier line.
Specs: 50 gallons stored, two 4500W heating elements, UEF 0.93, 62-gallon first-hour rating, 6-year tank and 6-year parts warranty. ENERGY STAR certified. Glass-lined steel tank, magnesium anode rod, polyurethane foam insulation. Dual upper and lower thermostats with independent control.
The Conservationist Electric is functionally equivalent to the Rheem Performance 50-gal Electric at the Home Depot tier. Both have the same warranty length, similar engineering, and similar pricing. The choice usually depends on which big-box channel is convenient. AO Smith dominates Lowe's; Rheem dominates Home Depot.
Right buyer: Lowe's-channel shoppers replacing an existing electric tank with 5–8 year ownership horizon. For longer ownership horizons, the upgrade to AO Smith Voltex (heat-pump option with much lower operating cost) or the Rheem Marathon (lifetime warranty) is the better economic choice. About $599 at Lowe's, $1,200 installed.
