Travel Berkey: Full Filtration in a Portable Form

The Travel Berkey is the smallest stainless unit in the Berkey lineup at 1.5-gallon (5.7 liter) capacity, 19-inch height, and 7.5-inch diameter. It accommodates 2 Black Berkey elements (same elements as the Big Berkey) and delivers the same 99.9999% bacteria and 99.999% virus reduction in a unit sized for camping, travel, and small households. The smaller chamber means more frequent refilling -- approximately 4-5 refills per gallon of output per day for a single user.

Portability and Use

The Travel Berkey disassembles into the upper chamber, lower chamber, and elements for transport. The chambers nest together when disassembled. The stainless body does not flex or warp in vehicle storage. The spigot is a food-grade stainless valve that removes completely for cleaning. For true travel use (international destinations with unknown water sources), the Travel Berkey with Black elements handles surface water, well water, and municipal water at the same filtration level regardless of source quality -- pathogen reduction is consistent across all water types tested.
