Tank Assembly Replacement

Supply Line Inspection and Replacement
Inspect the 3/8-inch braided stainless supply line annually. Look for corrosion at the ferrule ends, kinks in the line, or mineral crust at the tank inlet compression fitting. Replace the supply line every 5-7 years as preventive maintenance. Use a braided stainless line rated for 125 PSI -- standard residential supply pressure is 40-80 PSI, so a 125 PSI line provides ample safety margin. When replacing the supply line, also check the shutoff valve for slow drips and replace the valve packing if weeping.
Tank Descaling in Hard Water Areas
Mineral scale reduces heating efficiency and can cause hot spots on the element. In areas with water hardness above 7 grains per gallon (120 mg/L as CaCO3), descale the Moen hot water tank annually. Procedure: shut off supply, drain tank completely via the faucet lever, fill the tank with a 50% white vinegar solution, allow to soak 4-6 hours, drain, and flush with clean water twice. Faucet Spot Resist Finish Maintenance
The SRS (Spot Resist Stainless) PVD coating on Moen dispenser faucets is the same finish used across the Moen line and resists most kitchen splatters and water spots. Clean with a damp cloth and Moen-approved cleaner -- avoid abrasive pads, bleach, or CLR products on PVD-coated surfaces. Steam from the dispenser nozzle can deposit mineral residue near the outlet; clean this area weekly to prevent crust buildup that can interfere with faucet lever operation.
