American Standard toilet installation
Standard US 12-inch rough-in. Wide AmStd lineup spans value-tier (Cadet 3, Mainstream) through premium (Champion 4, Boulevard, Edgemere) — all using same install procedures.
Install time by AmStd model
- Cadet 3, Mainstream, Champion 4 (two-piece): 45-60 min, 1 person
- Edgemere (skirted two-piece): 60-75 min, 2 people for bowl
- Boulevard (one-piece): 90-120 min, 2 people required
- Glenwall (wall-hung): 3-5 hours + Zurn/Jay R. Smith carrier required
Standard install procedure (Cadet 3, Champion 4 two-piece)
- Shut off water, flush, sponge tank
- Disconnect supply, remove old toilet
- Install wax ring on flange
- Set bowl, verify plumb, hand-tighten flange bolts
- Install tank-bowl gasket on flush valve outlet
- Set tank on bowl, cross-tighten 1/4 turn alternately
- Connect supply line, restore water
- Test 3-5 flushes (verify VorMax bowl-rim action on VorMax models)
- Install seat (sold separately)
Boulevard one-piece install
- Two-person lift required (~100 lbs)
- NEVER twist during placement
- Floor flatness verification
- Wax ring with horn recommended
Glenwall wall-hung install
- Zurn Z1203 or Z1204 wall carrier OR Jay R. Smith equivalent ($240-$420)
- Carrier embedded during construction or major retrofit
- Wall structure load support required
- Concealed tank — actuator plate or top-mount lever visible
