1 steady flash = Normal operation. Same status indicator as State and AO Smith Signature — unit is functioning normally.
What 1 flash means
- Pilot is lit OR electronic ignition is ready
- Gas valve in standby
- No safety circuits tripped
- FVIR sensor normal
If you see 1 flash but no hot water
- Check thermostat setting on gas valve — set to 120°F or "C"
- Verify gas supply valve is fully open
- Test another hot tap (air-lock check)
Bottom line
1 flash = good. Hot water issue with 1-flash status is downstream of the heater (plumbing, mixing).
