- Bolt re-tightening: every 3-5 years, check mounting bolts for loosening from vibration/use
- Carrier gasket replacement: every 15-25 years OR when toilet is removed for any reason
- Frame inspection: every 10 years, visual check for frame deflection or cracking
- Waste line inspection: every 20 years OR when adjacent fixtures show drainage issues
Carrier failure mode (rare but severe)
Wall carrier failures (~0.5% over 25 years) result in toilet pulling away from wall under user load. Symptoms appearing before failure:

- Audible creaking or popping during weight loading

Carrier replacement procedure
Carrier replacement is significant facility work — requires:

- Opening of finished wall (typically tile or drywall removal)
- Removal of failed carrier frame
- Install of new carrier frame, attached to building structure
- Finish wall restoration (tile, drywall, paint)
- Reinstall toilet on new carrier
