Zurn Z6000 Flushometer — Rebuild Kits + Replacement Service

Zurn Z6000 flushometer — the dominant Zurn service component

The Zurn Z6000 is the most-installed commercial flushometer valve in US history (estimated 30M+ installed). The Z6000 powers Zurn commercial bowls (Z5675, Z5615, Z5685) but also retrofits to AmStd Madera, Kohler Highcrest, Eljer Titan Pro, and most other commercial flushometer bowls with 1.5" top spud.

Z6000 service hierarchy

Service levelWhat it coversCost (~)Service life after
Diaphragm replacementInternal diaphragm assembly$25-$40 kit5-7 years to next service
Full Z6000 rebuild kitDiaphragm + relief valve + all internal components$45-$70 kit8-12 years to next service
Full Z6000 valve replacementEntire valve assembly$160-$240 valve12-18 years
Sensor module (Z6000-WS)Electronic sensor + control board$120-$1805-8 years

When to rebuild vs replace

  • Rebuild diaphragm only: valve cycles correctly but flushes incompletely or makes excessive noise during cycle
  • Full rebuild kit: valve cycles inconsistently OR relief valve has audibly failed
  • Full valve replacement: external visible damage, casting cracked, internal corrosion preventing rebuild seating
  • Sensor module only: Z6000-WS variant where sensor fails but mechanical valve still operates (manual override button works)

Z6000 sensor variants (commercial hands-free)

  • Z6000-WS1: Battery-powered (4 AA batteries, 2-3 year life)
  • Z6000-WS-AC: Hardwired 24V AC (no battery service)
  • Z6000-WS-PWR: Hybrid (battery backup for AC failures)
  • Zurn EcoVantage: Connected (wireless monitoring + analytics for large facilities)

Battery service for sensor variants

Z6000-WS1 battery service is the most common Zurn commercial maintenance touchpoint:

  1. Remove sensor cover (typically Allen key from underside)
  2. Remove old 4 AA batteries
  3. Install new alkaline 4 AA batteries (avoid lithium — voltage too high)
  4. Sensor should LED-cycle once on power-up
  5. Test 5-7 flush cycles to verify
  6. Replace cover

Service interval: 2-3 years per battery set. Facility maintenance programs typically batch-replace batteries across all sensor flushometers annually.
