Stiebel Eltron Line

Stiebel Eltron DHC Point-of-Use Electric Tankless

240V wall-mount tankless for single-fixture applications. 3.8-9.6 kW, hydraulic activation.

Updated May 2026 · Stiebel Eltron Water Heaters

The DHC line is Stiebel Eltron\'s 240V point-of-use electric tankless — wall-mount units serving a single fixture or fixture group. Smaller than Tempra Plus, single circuit, hydraulic activation. For distant kitchen sinks, bathroom additions, ADUs, and RV applications where you need a "real" hot water source but not whole-house capacity.

The lineup

  • DHC 4-2 — 3.8 kW, 240V 20A. Hand sinks
  • DHC 6-2 — 5.4 kW, 240V 30A. Volume pick, bathroom sinks
  • DHC 8-2 — 7.2 kW, 240V 40A. Low-flow shower applications
  • DHC 10-2 — 9.6 kW, 240V 40A. Single shower at moderate temperature rise
  • DHC-E 12 — 12 kW, electronic control with digital display. Premium point-of-use

Common use cases

  • Distant kitchen sink at the end of a long run from the main water heater
  • Bathroom addition where extending main hot water lines is impractical
  • ADU / garage apartment / detached office with single bathroom
  • RV upgrade from propane tankless to electric when on shore power
  • Workshop / barn / outbuilding with one sink and one shower
  • Pet wash station in garage

Install

See install guide. Key:

  • 240V dedicated breaker sized per model (20-40A)
  • 10/2 NM cable on DHC 4-2 / 6-2; 8/2 on DHC 8-2 / 10-2; 6/2 on DHC-E 12
  • ¾" plumbing (DHC 4-2 / 6-2 may use ½")
  • Inlet shutoff and hot outlet shutoff
  • Pressure relief / T&P valve
  • Wall-mount, vertical orientation

DHC vs DHC-E

  • DHC 4-2 through 10-2: hydraulic activation; on/off operation; lower cost ($299-649)
  • DHC-E 12: electronic control; modulating; setpoint display; Flow Control; higher cost ($749-899)

DHC-E is the premium tier — recommended when temperature stability matters (showers).

Warranty

  • 3-year heat exchanger
  • 1-year parts
  • Labor not covered

Bottom line

DHC is point-of-use 240V electric tankless. DHC 6-2 is the volume pick for bathroom sinks; DHC 10-2 for single showers; DHC-E 12 when you want electronic control and Flow Control on a single-fixture install.
