EcoSmart POU 6 6 kW Point-of-Use Electric Tankless
EcoSmart POU 6 6 kW Point-of-Use Electric Tankless Review
The EcoSmart POU 6 is the larger of EcoSmart's two point-of-use units, sized for slightly more demanding remote applications than the POU 3.5. At 6 kW (single 30-amp double-pole breaker, 25 amps continuous), it produces about 0.9 GPM at a 40°F rise — enough for a small bathroom sink with shaving or face-washing demand, a remote wet bar, or a workshop sink with occasional larger draws.
The fundamental fit is the same as the POU 3.5: small remote fixture where the main household water heater is too far to deliver hot water quickly. The POU 6 adds about 0.4 GPM of capacity over the smaller unit, which matters for any use case where handwash isn't the dominant demand. Specifically, the POU 6 can comfortably feed a kitchenette sink in a finished basement bar or a workshop sink where the user occasionally fills a small bucket.
What it cannot do: feed a shower (capacity insufficient at any reasonable temperature rise), feed a primary kitchen sink in a family home (insufficient flow during pot-filling), or feed multiple fixtures simultaneously (single-fixture unit by design). For multi-fixture remote applications, step up to the ECO 11 or ECO 18 whole-house units.
Same warranty structure as the rest of the EcoSmart line: lifetime on the heat exchanger, 5 years on electronics. Stainless steel construction, brass fittings, wall-mount form factor measuring about 8 × 13 × 4 inches. Installable by any electrician in 90 minutes assuming the 30A 240V circuit run is reasonable.
